The story

The film opens in the Dominican Republic and follows Alcantara to the top of his sport. Sit-down interviews carry it — with Sandy and the people around him — cut against game archive and cinematic footage of the season, through to the Cy Young.

What I did

  • Directed the film and shaped the story from interviews.
  • Edited 22 minutes from interviews, archival material and cinematic footage.
  • Music and sound design to carry the emotion between the big moments.
  • Bilingual: interviews in Spanish and English, subtitled for both audiences.
